  • Alas...

It's been a while since I've posted here, huh? Unfortunately, I probably won't be posting much here anymore, though I'll be keeping my site up, of course, and you all can still contact me through it, if you really want to. I've been infected with LiveJournal, and for me, at least, it's a lot easier to use. If any of you have sites over there, feel free to tell me who you are and add me.

    Love you all! ^_^

  • Bleh.

    So; the news...

Lots and lots of stuff has happened...

Last Saturday, we had Honour Band. My god, that was so fun! It was just me, Rock, Marley, Jeremy, Conner, Aliason, and Oron, (I believe), who ended up getting to go, so we were all kind of sticking together, even though we don't talk much, usually. Mr. Depew was there too, of course. The whole affair in general was a blast. The only downside was that we'd had our first day of actual PE on Friday, and I woke up really sore from that, since I'm not used to the exercise. Then we sat for more or less twelve hours, (counting the busrides and dinner). When I got up to go eat said dinner, I could hardly walk because I was so stiff.

But we did get to see one of our old trumpet players who moved. He wasn't actually there to perform -- he was there to watch our performance, but it was nice to see him again, nonetheless. He's going to some private Christian school, now, in Coeur d' Alene. It's a shame he can't come back. I miss him.

Anyway, after our part of the concert, my parents comandeered me, and we got to see the last half of the symphony's performance at the college. We got to watch the visiting Irish band that was there, and the Irish dancers from one of the dance academies in Coeur d' Alene. A friend and I are now considering taking up said dancing -- it be a great way to get into and stay in shape, even though it would hurt like hell...

On a side note: at Honour Band, Mr. Depew was talking about the kids who might move up into band next year. If all the eigth graders move up, we'd get five more flutes. A jazz band does not need ten flutes! Even I can realize that, and I play said instrument. I doubt many of them will move up anyway, but he's trying to get some of us to take up second instruments, to double on if we have to. There was a single, really nice bassoon player at Honour Band, so... Mr. Depew is fixing up the bassoon we have, and soon I shall start working upon learning that, as well.(Double reeds! Ack! >_<)

(I believe the bassoon player's name was Tim. While we were waiting for the concert to start, he kept sticking a surgical glove on the end of the bassoon and blowing it up like a balloon. Good fun.)

A rather odd thing -- I only noticed him about halfway through because he was sitting in the second row, behind someone else, but there was a blonde clarinet player there who looked almost exactly like Sam. (And, if I recall correctly, you do play clarinet, don't you, Sam?) Every time I'd see him, I kept wanting to go over and say hi, and have to remind myself that I did not know him. I kind of struck up a conversation with him a bit later, since we happened to be standing in each other's general viscinity, and he seemed to use the same turns of phrase that Sam uses. O_o It was really strange. I wish I'd gotten a picture of him... His name was Cole. *thinks* Cole Ballinger. He seemed to be a nice kid...

    Anyway...

Then, on Tuesday, we had the NIC Jazz Clinic/Festival.

That. Was. The Best. Fun. I've. Had. In. Ages.

A whole bus full of band kids, (which happen to be more like one huge, insane family) + sugar + a passion for playing music + dinner + a college = MUCH FUN AND CHAOS!

    My god, that was fun...

I must thank James and DJ for so many laughs on all those busrides we did. They recorded so many hilarious things onto my phone, and said so many more hilarious things... God. It was great. I wish I could relive it, over, and over, and over again...

Geeze. I've gotta thank them all. They're so great. I love you guys!

Plus, I finally got a nice picture of DJ -- one of the Charles Scarlet look-alikes in that class. It's currently serving as the background on my cellphone, and I'm going to send it to Monie, (Charlie), this evening, at some point. Now I just need one of Eric's older brother...

We got to sit and watch the professional jazz concert people after dinner, too. And Mr. Depew was one of the percussionists. It rocked. It was great. I got to talk to so many awesome people I don't usually talk to much, even in class. I wish I could have all the time in the world to get to know them better. I swear, at the end of school, I'm going to get each and every one of them to sign my Lumberjazz sweatshirt. I swear it.

These past two days, though, we haven't actually gotten to play in class. A woman has been here with live raptors, to teach us about them. She had four birds -- an American Kestrel, a Barn Owl, a Red-Tailed Hawk, and a Bald Eagle. Good show, great information, but they had to use the band room, and couldn't use the bell system because it would have upset the birds.

Today, though, since we got to see it yesterday, we got to sit around in the gym and read, and play basketball, and all manner of things. In the last twenty or so minutes of class, however, we had to sit 'quietly' when she brought the Bald Eagle out of its nice roomy little traveling box, since it gets nervous easily. We were all pretty much sitting in a circle laughing and listening to the things we'd recorded on Megan's phone from Tuesday... Yeah. Great fun.

Plus, I'm getting to borrow George R. R. Martin's 'A Game of Thrones' from Conner, (another thick fantasy novel reader like myself). I've been wanting to read that series for a while, and I've got the third book, I think, but, naturally, none of the other ones.

I'm tired, and practically dead on my feet, but I've had the most fun I've had in ages.

Except for after school today... -_- My parents tricked me into going to the doctor's office to get my other two booster shots, and I thought I was going to hyperventilate. It was... nerve-wracking, to say the least. *shudders*

(It didn't help that last night, the Midsomer Murder episode I watched had two or three people killed with barbituate injection via hypodermic needles to the liver. Not a pleasant image for someone who's AFRAID of them.)

But now I don't have to get anymore until ten years from now. I hope I have a boyfriend by then, becasue he's going to have to literally drag me in there to get me to go get them. I don't think I'll ever be able to knowingly go there ahead of time. Gah. I know it's a silly fear, but... *shivers*

*sighs* I hope you get out of computer hell soon, Sam. I miss you already.

*mumbles* And, for the record, I hate February. Stupid Valentine's Day. More like Monie, said -- 'Singles' Awareness Day.'

The 'month of love' my ass. Everywhere I look, all I see is pink, and red, and white, and hearts, and 'I love you', and it's pissing me off.

Oh well. I guess I should be used to this feeling.

    Whatever.

On another note, I finished Cowboy Bebop the other day. I was sad when Spike died. *sniffle* At least Ed and Ein have the potential to live happily ever after. I have them on my desktop right now.

And now I've started Get Backers. I just watched the first five episodes yesterday. My god! <3 I love it! I found out I've been pronouncing most of the names wrong, but who cares! The English voice actors are so good... Ban... Akabane... *drool*

I can't wait for the second disc to get here!

  • Saucy Jack

    So...

Another story in the works. Figures. This one has Jack the Ripper in it, which gives me an excuse to research the case even more than I already was. ^_^ *whistles innocently*

Other than that, there's not really much to report. It seems that this semester is going to be a blow-off, which is nice. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

I guess this will be a short entry.

Oh well. Anyway, the final play performance went well, on Tuesday, and we had a day off of school yesterday. It was nice.

*drool* One thing I have to say for this male figure skaters. They have nice legs.

  • Of semesters, music, and plays...

    Well...

It's almost the end of the semester.

I have all A's, as far as I know, and I don't have to even think about taking any semester tests. The only thing I really need to be concerned with is the science test and the Spanish test. Yay.

I did my last speech on Friday, and this is a wonderful feeling. Can anyone tell me if they require a speech credit in college? If not, I'm free forever!

Well, maybe not forever, but, hey, I can dream, can't I?

Also, Friday was the first play performance, and it went smoothly. Mostly all I did was watch the first half, work the major lights, (not as nifty as it sounds, it was just the ceiling lights), and sit backstage, but it was fun. I felt kind of... obsolete? I didn't really do much. All I did this whole time was organize some props, work those lights, work the spotlight once at a practice, and read someone's lines one day when they were gone.

Oh well. I suppose I should feel used to it.

I also got the music for honour band the other day, and I should really be practicing it. It looks kind of difficult, but maybe that's just because I'm a stupid freshman. Whatever. I've also got to practice the stuff for the Jazz Festival on the thirtieth. It probably wouldn't be a problem if I could READ THE BLOODY MUSIC. But there were originally no flute parts in existance for the songs at all, and so our band teacher had to transfer a different part into our key, and his manuscript SUCKS.

    ~_~

    Whatever.

At least I got rid of my writer's block. Thank you to all who prodded me with solutions!

Also, the anniversary of the first post with Tarislar in it was this past tenth of January. Whoo!
